About Caleb Knodell


Caleb Knodell's artistic oeuvre is distinguished by a harmonious blend of surreal figuration and abstraction. His works often feature vibrant color palettes and evocative atmospheres, wherein objective and nonobjective elements intertwine seamlessly, eliciting a spectrum of emotions ranging from amusement to contemplation.

Born in 1987 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Knodell boasts a rich educational background, having pursued studies both domestically and abroad. He honed his craft at the esteemed Charles Cecil Studio in Italy and apprenticed under the tutelage of the renowned artist Odd Nerdrum in Norway. Knodell earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Missouri State University and furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Indiana University Bloomington, where he presently resides and creates.

 His artistic prowess has garnered global recognition, with exhibitions spanning across borders, including notable showcases at esteemed venues such as the European Museum of Modern Art in Spain. Additionally, his work has been featured in prominent publications such as Juxtapoz, Fine Art Connoisseur, and The Nerdrum School, solidifying his status as a respected figure in the contemporary art scene.
